About Gwendolyn
A seasoned solo performer with 30 years experience, Gwendolyn can perform anything from Janis Joplin to Nat King Cole.
Gwendolyn's performance is both full and fun. Playing acoustic and electric guitars, Gwen is backed by a 'Band in a Box' that she has cheerfully nicknamed 'Mr. Peabody and the Way Back Machine'.
Each backing track features 'actual sampled instruments', which
Gwendolyn has programmed herself, to create the most realistic "Full Band" sound possible.
Gwendolyn's professional credits include singing song demos for renown songwriter Larry Bastian who penned "Rodeo" and "Unanswered Prayers" recorded by Garth Brooks, working with Buck Owens & the Buckaroos, the late Vassar Clements, Robert Chadwick, Gloria Loring, and dear friend, the late Curly Musgrave to name a few.
Gwendolyn's talents has landed her various session recording work as a female vocalist. Her distinctive vocals can be heard singing lead or back-up on many recordings, including TV and record albums. In 2000, Gwendolyn's unique singing talents and amazing vocal interpretations were recorded at "Bayou Studios" in Nashville TN.
Gwendolyn provided her vocals for a bluegrass tribute album to the Grateful Dead, (available on Amazon.com) this collection of songs called "Dead Grass" featured the one-and-only 'Vassar Clements' on his lightning fiddle.
Premier Nashville musicians Butch Baldassari, Doug Jernigan, Jeff White, Reggie Harris and Ryan Harris were the 'top-gun' band hired for this special project. It received raved reviews in various magazines and from the Grateful Dead band and the songwriters themselves. This album has now recieved 'cult' status among the fans and receives airplay on Americana stations all over the world. "Brown Eyed Women", one cut on the album, reached the top 20 in the Netherlands and remained there for many weeks.
Gwendolyn's music has quiet the following, her songs have been played on BBC Merseyside Radio, she has performed at venues such as the 'Cavern Club' in Liverpool, U.K., Morongo Casino, numerous So-Cal Country Clubs, Private Parties and Weddings, Multi-Million Dollar Open Houses, Pubs, Restaurants and for various other Special Events. Being a mountain resident, Gwendolyn has enjoyed entertaining numerous occasions in Lake Arrowhead Village at Center Stage, and had also opened for many bands including 'Starship'.
In 2005, Gwendolyn had the priviledge to produce a local production in Lake Arrowhead with the amazing Gloria Loring, now a resident here in our beautiful mountain community. Finding local talent to entertain, Gwendolyn and Gloria produced a stellar show. They both sang solo arrangements and performed a Duet together to the sold out event. The local Christmas extravaganza was also produced by this Dynamic Duo. and proved to be a great success.
In September 2010, while performing at "The Bin 189" at the Lake Arrowhead Resort Hotel, Gwendolyn had the unique opportunity to entertain with a motown legend, the great Stevie Wonder during one of her club engagements.
After listening to Gwendolyn performing a 3 hour set, Stevie invited her into the private dining room where he and his family were seated. For about an hour, he talked and sang with Gwendolyn and held her hand for the duration of the entire experience. Stevie agreed to do his song 'Superstion' with her on stage. It was an amazing event that is still being talked about in Gwendolyn's local community.
Gwendolyn has produced 3 'live' CD's which capture the magic of her performances and is currently working on an album of original material. She has been a resident of the San Bernardino mountains for 30 years and has performed all over Southern California.
